inconsiderate co worker
Can you believe I had a co worker actually suggest that I was taking a 6 week holiday in the best of weather in Sept. She said it must be nice to take 6 weeks off and enjoy the fall weather!!!!!
Wow how I would have traded her for the surgery and the complications(pulmonary embolism - both lungs) -she would have never lasted.
This is a 30 yr old who has never had children, and never wants to - she hasn't even had any type of surgery!!!
don't you just love inconsiderate people like that - that can't even speak from experience - just envy. It has been 7 1/2 weeks and not a work yet - they email and ask when I will be returning - most likely in 1 1/2 weeks.

I am finding that people in general think that a hysterectomy is no big deal - they are like female problems, get over it. It makes me so mad. I just hope they'll get their day!

inconsiderate co-worker
Hi, So sorry this is happening to you. I am amazed at how many cruel, insensitive folks there are in the world. I work with two myself and finally came to the realization that they must really be misreable to be that much of a bully, because if they were truly happy then they wouldn't get pleasure out of hurting others. I hope this helps. Take care and have a better day! Melanie

hey there! The world is full of really stupid people, and the best way I have found to shut them up because it is something that is really personal was to tell them that I got crotchectomy. Most were men and that put a screeching halt to the discussion. Women are another matter. Some say things like, did you realize how important that organ was in making you feel like a real woman? alot of dumb-A comments along those lines. To them I simply say, I did what I had to to stay alive, and I hope you will find more support if you are ever in this position. One of my biggest tormentors actually wound up bieng a wonderful defendant! The odd simple 'it's private' would do as well. If all else fails just walk away. They are too simple minded to be compassionate anyways. You can always zap me! I love to listen!

Well there is no excuse for anyone who HAS been thru being insensitive. That's just plain selfish. I feel soooooo blessed. I work at home but deal with all of the other employees of the company via e-mail or phone. They basically need me alot and I have been off for the past 8 weeks. I just went back full time yesterday and still they say just go at your own pace and if you need to stop and rest..then stop and rest. Amazing..I am blessed. Again I will say that those who have not been thru it just don't get it..but someday they will be in our positions and they had better watch out.

I had one co-worker say I only wanted the surgery because our boss had the surgery in May and my co-worker was going to have the surgery in November or so. Yep, that's a bandwagon I want to jump on Well, after having the complications and being kept out for 8 weeks from 1st surgery, I now get to listen to co-workers say I'm just milking this for all it's worth and I'm making a big deal out of nothing. I'd only been folded, spindled (in two spots), and mutilated (two more abdominal scars in addition to the thick c-section scars. Oh, well, sensitivity just doesn't seem to exist there unless you are part of the "in-crowd" - which seems so "junior high".

It just dawned on my the my inconsiderate coworker is really a jerk. I'm only going back to work part time for the next two weeks and thought from what my coworker has said to me that our boss would be upset ..., but he isn't. He was very understanding and supportive and agreed with my suggestion of what classes I should pick up. I need to develop a thicker skin and a snappy comeback because I'm sure she'll be gunning when I get back.
