Hi all, had my surgery January 6. My computer is in the basement so don't get here much these days. The Hyst (LAVH) went good but had a lot of pain so stayed 2 days instead of one. Fine by me! Doc said worst case of Adenomyosis she'd seen but no problems any where other then uterus so kept ovaries. I feel a bit more "validated" knowing things were so bad and am hoping for such a better life. I'm still quite swollen and was given another week off work due to that and pain. I think that extra time will make me a better employee when I return. Ovaries are still in "shock". Was having hot flashes and crying episodes like crazy. Given small dose of estrogen to help level things out then will slowly come off in about 2 weeks. I have been on HRT for 4 years, so I'm not suprised they don't know what to do on their own. So, that's that! Love the checkpoints on this site, they are very helpful. See you soon

I had my LAVH on Dec 14 and I too kept my ovaries. I have a question. I have not had hot flashes (but have been extremely cold) and have not had severe crying jags. I am, however,sad/depressed....feel that I could cry. I am almost 6 weeks out now. Does it sound like my ovaries are working? Or could I feel like this emotionally due to the "trauma" of surgery and it will pass with time? I am 51 and it was not like this surgery ended child bearing for me as I had my tubes tied 16 years ago after the birth of my 4th child. My hyst was to correct prolapses. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I was very emotional right after surgery also :marble: (and 6 weeks is still very early yet!!) I think you'll see as time passes, you'll start to feel more even with your emotions! It's hard to be patient, but you'll feel better. I still have my 'emotional days' though, like on the edge of tears sometimes and it' s been 9 months for me!!! But all in all, life is soooo much better now and it will be for you too!! I know it's hard to be patient though! If you still feel so emotional in another month or two, maybe ask your doctor about it--until then, just remember you've been through a lot!! Take care! zanylynn
