waiting starts all over again

My date was scheduled for today. I was at hospital at 7 AM and left there at 9AM. I woke up with my head all stuffed up, really congested. Little bit of coughing, but I contribute that to the fact that I stopped smoking cigarettes Saturday night. Since then I have had maybe 3. Well three different doctors and the nurse listened to my lungs, they are all clear. My doc and the anesthesiologist didn't want to risk...it could be the start of a full blown cold. Can cause all kinds of complications during the surgery and post-operatively. So, I need to go to my other doctor later today and try to get an antibiotic and then I will call my gyne-doc on Friday for a possible reschedule next week. But I won't take any chances...if this cold isn't gone by Friday I will postpone another week. This is awful!! I never get sick...really it's been almost two years since I had a cold and now! of all times! Why me??

I feel so bad for you!!! That is so unfair . . . just when you are all geared up for getting it over with!

It is best to be as healthy as possible when you go into surgery, though. The doctors are right to be on the safe side.

Hopefully you will be over your cold soon and can get on with it!

I had the very same thing - NEVER get sick with colds, flu, etc....
last week - whamo big bad sinus infection
I went to the docs & got some antibiotic - last night was the last of them
Today is my pre-op apt at the hosp and I am still hacking and coughing and feeling like crap - hope they don't cancel my surgery next week
(oh - and I too quit smoking - but just yesterday)
Sorry to hear about them rebooking you. Let us know when it will be.
