Adenomyosis: 3+ weeks post total vaginal hysterectomy - mini periods

I was diagnosed with adenonmyosis last year through an ultrasound.I have always had heavy periods but after I had my tubes done it got worse the pain was in my abdomen it went around to my back and down my legs I couldn't take the pain anymore that's why I seen my dr.Once I seen my gynaecologist he said the only real cure for adenonmyosis is a hysterectomy. So I got an hysterectomy and also had a sling put under my bladder as I suffer from incontinence. Now three and a half weeks after my hysterectomy I am still spotting I also have been getting pains like a period.after reading up about it I found that you can have mini periods.im thinking wow that just great I'm hoping it will ease..wishful thinking 😃

Re: Adenomyosis: 3+ weeks post total vaginal hysterectomy - mini periods

Since you had a total hysterectomy, you no longer have a cervix so you won't get mini periods. You're still early in your recovery and some spotting right now is perfectly normal. You may be feeling period-like pain due to your ovaries, and again, that's normal. As long as your cervix is gone, don't worry about mini periods at all.

Re: Adenomyosis: 3+ weeks post total vaginal hysterectomy - mini periods

I also had Adenomyosis along with fibroids and a collapsed fallopian tube. I hear you on the pain in the abdomen and back.. As the previous poster said if they took your cervix there will be no mini periods. The spotting is normal you may or may not have it. I stopped spotting around 2 weeks and have not had anything since. The pains could be your ovaries trying to work or it could just be your body healing. I had lots of abdominal pain right up into my 5th week of recovery. I was told by my Dr that was normal, other organs are moving around and filing in where your uterus used to be.. Keep in mind at 3 weeks post-op you have a lot of stuff going on in your abdomen. If you are really concerned call your Dr. Plus you had the sling put in. So you had more work done than just a hysterectomy.

Re: Adenomyosis: 3+ weeks post total vaginal hysterectomy - mini periods

I am 15 days post op for robotic / vaginal removal of cervix and uterus for adenmyosis and five fibroids. I am still bleeding some, this is normal because there are stitches healing at the top of the vagina. I still have shooting pains but overall its getting better. AT times I feel like I actually have period cramps or my vagina actually hurts!! It can really hurt to pee but I don't have a bladder infection. I was told my bladder had to be pushed around some and the pain is normal for early healing.
