moving on

My surgery was June 26 2013. I can honestly say that this has been the most difficult thing I have been through. I wake up in the middle of the night and I can picture that divinci robot---I seen it right before they put me out. I cried up to the point of being taken to surgery. I remember waking up in the worst pain I have ever been in---ever. I really feel like my surgeon should have told me that this was going to be one hell of an experience. Seems to me that they "sell" you surgery and then what you are left with is what you are left with. I read these posts on here and I am certainly not the only one dealing with pain. I am just exhausted. Emotionally--my husband has been great. However, I have lived away from my parents and siblings for about 20 years---did not even get a get well card from anyone. That really hurt my feelings. I remember laying in my hospital bed thinking that certainly someone would come for me--no one did. Also, day after surgery I only got motrin---the nurse told the doctor she was giving me more--I know this sounds crazy---I think the nurse that was taking care of me stole my oral medication. Not sure whether to mention that to my surgeon--he might not beleive me. I dunno---this has just been horrible. God if I was afraid of hospitals before---I sure as hell am now. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: moving on

Aawweeeee, so sorry you are dealing with all that!!! I would report the lack of pain meds to your surgeon and the hospital. Also, request an itemized invoice to see if it shows any on it. That is messed up!!! I had IV and oral in the 24 hours I was there.
I had my mom and my DBF there when I had surgery but no one the next day...I felt unloved for sure. Kind of sad because I would have been there with him most if the time...that's just how I am though. Feel better and hugs to you!!

Re: moving on

Really sorry you are going through all this. It's an emotional rollercoaster that's for sure. I cried right up until the time they put me out too, so I know that feeling all too well. But we survived and will get through this one day at a time. As for the medication thing, I would definitely check that out with the surgeon. Sending you hugs and comforting thoughts for a better tomorrow.
