Why Can't I Lift? *(Kids mentioned)*

I messed up this morning. Almost three weeks post-op and my toddler slept in today. My husband had already left for work when she was yelling for me from her crib. I called my mom to see if she could come over and get her out, but Mom was sleeping in today. So. . . I did it. I lifted her out of her crib quickly and stood her on the ground.

Now, I'm thinking of all the reasons why I shouldn't have done that. Honestly, the never told me *why* I shouldn't lift, just forewarned me against it.

Re: Why Can't I Lift? *(Kids mentioned)*

The reason that lifting isn't allowed is because of where the surgery is and the muscles that you have to use to lift. You can put way too much strain on your muscles as you heal. Be very careful about lifting as you can also rip out stitches.
