having a d&c hysterscopy and IUD placement friday

My Doctor is trying a last resort effort before re submitting for a complete Hysterectomy..I am going to have a Hysterescopy d&C and IUD placement, in hopes to relieve the pain I stay in and i think she said possibly scraping or removing the Fibroid.. I take it , its in a place that she may be able to do so..I have no idea what to tell my workplace as in how long I will need to be out. I have planned on 3 days to be safe,,Does anyone have any experience with this procedure and how long did it take before you could go back to FULL activity..I am a personal caregiver who cares for a parapaledgic (spelling) Basically if that person moves its b/c its munipulated by me..Heavy, Heavy lifting..just not sure when I can resume that activity safely. I did not really want the IUD,,but decided to just give it a shot..Really my only option for some relief until and unless I have the hysterectomy..

I'm very sorry to hear this. Hopefully, a second opinion will make all the difference.

Hang in there!

Re: having a d&c hysterscopy and IUD placement friday

If you stick with the D & C, my doctor advised taking 5 days off when I had mine. I had it on a Wednesday and took 3 days off so that way I had 5 days with the weekend. I could have gone to work the 3rd day if I had to, but was glad to have the 5 days to rest. All I had was cramping and bleeding that was much like one of my normal periods.

Re: having a d&c hysterscopy and IUD placement friday

I had a hysteroscopy, d&c, and polyps removed and an IUD put in all at the same time. I had it done on Tuesday and took the rest of the week and weekend off. My paperwork I think said not to do lifting for like 2 weeks...but I could be wrong. You don't want to over do it and cause more cramps and bleeding.

Re: having a d&c hysterscopy and IUD placement friday

I had a D&C, hysteroscopy, and Mirena IUD insertion for heavy bleeding related to fibroids in mid-Feb this year. My body rejected the IUD and expelled it in a couple weeks. The procedure itself and recovery were easy (a couple days for me) but now I'm facing either UFE or hysterectomy.
