medical tests after hysterectomy

marry Christmas everyone, I'm 45 years old married, I had a lavh (laparoscopically assisted vaginal hysterectomy) -cervix removed- 7 months ago. i need to know are there any regular medical tests i have to do it after my op. or not ? and another thing is it normal that i start to suffer from hot flashes, dry vagina and dry eyes, even when i still have my ovaries?

based on when your hyst. was, I'll say that your ovaries appear to have possibly been affected by the hyst. Sometimes a hyst. can cause the ovaries to shut down a bit sooner than they would have. Since it's been since June, I don't know if it's the simple ovaries going to sleep scenario. They usually come around by 4 months, I think. I'm not positive though. Definitely ask you doc.

Regarding any other tests after hyst., did you not have any postop appointment with your doctor?

I did have postop appointment with my doc but he didn't say anything about medical tests I should do it,

I personally am experiencing horrible night sweats and hot flashes. I have been back twice to the guy that did the surgery as he has me on ESTRACE. He started me out on .5 mg but had to increase it to 1.0mg. I still have them but not so often.
I am told my gp that I will still have to have regular internals for 5 years, then no more. But he did say since I am not "active" I do not require the internals.
Even though I am almost 9 months since the surgery ( I had a complete TAH with removal of both ovaries), my physical body has changed drastically !! And mentally ??? I am more depressed than I can ever remember being before. Having no friends or family makes it truly brutal.
Take good care of yourself. Try to pase yourself and take it one day at a time.

Call you Dr. and ask about what tests they still want you to have. Sometimes it depends on the Dr. and the reason for the hyster.. There ccould still be endometrial cells there so especially if you still have your ovaries your Dr. may still want to do a vaginal vault smear (pap test for those w/ cervix removed).
