Pre-Op Meds for Back Spasms

Help! I'm 2 days away from surgery and have developed terrible neck and back spasms. (Have a history of these.) I'm sure it's from the jitters. I don't feel especially nervous, so this must be where the stress is going. Normally, my family physician subscribes muscle relaxant. Is this a wise thing to do so close to the big day? Pain is pretty bad right now. Any similar experiences?

Pre-Op Meds for Back Spasms

Hi Wordens,
So sorry you are having back spasms. I don't have them myself but know they can be very bothersome and painful.

Since you are just 2 days from surgery, you really should contact your doctor about what you can or cannot take for this being its so close. If you can't get your own doctor, perhaps there is an on-call doctor. I hope you will call just to be on the safe side!
Best of luck with your surgery!!
Hugs,
Maria

No meds before surgery...

Check with your GYN but I had a severe pinched nerve 3 weeks prior to surgery. My gyn said NO meds 1 week before surgery. I went to the Chiropractor and got a massage, the day before surgery. Also, ice packs work wonders. It is nerves and the pressure of fibroids that added to my problems. I have slight back aches now, (post-op 13 days) but I go to bed and use a heating pad for 1/2 hour and its fine.
Good luck and try to be gentle on yourself.
