3 weeks post hysterectomy: After over doing it

Hi there,
I over did it over the holiday season, went for x2 short (1 1/2 hr) family dinners over a 3 day period. The next day my swelling, discomfort, fatigueincreased and the day after that I started to bleed. Prior to that I was tired, had moderate swelling, could shower daily and go for x2 6 minute walks outdoors on flat ground each day.
I was able to get in to see my surgeon the next day and she said I've either over done it or may have the beginnings of an infection. Said to rest and if it doesn't improve by New Year's Day we'll start anti-biopics. I've been on pretty much total bed rest except the Dr appt for 4 days now with only minimal improvement. I'm curious to hear how long it's taken others to bounce back (ish) after over doing it?
I am 3 weeks post op today.

Re: After over doing it

Hi there! I totally overdid it today. I went to the grocery store with my mom (she pushed the cart picked up all the items). I just walked the store. Now I have super swelly belly and lots swelling/vaginal pain. Hoping it feels much better tomorrow. I don't have any advice, but I wanted you to know you aren't alone!!!

Re: 3 weeks post hysterectomy: After over doing it

Thanks for the replies. It sure is humbling. I did a lot of prep and research going in, and despite that was not at all prepared for the recovery process. Grateful my Dr is accessible and for this site for info and support.
The bleeding is what concerns me the most with this set back, it's slowed down a bit, but not as much as I would have thought after many days of bed rest.

Re: 3 weeks post hysterectomy: After over doing it

When I'd overdo it, it'd usually take 2+ days to shake off the effects. Swelly belly and cramping/pulling first day, tapering to cramping or cramping/pulling after a night's sleep. Usually by Day 3 it was gone or just a bit of cramping. It never was anything that needed meds, just rest or taking it easy.

I'm not sure if taking ibuprofen is contributing to the bleeding? I'm off the prescription meds now and just taking Tylenol and Motrin (staggered doses of course)
