Spotting months after hysterectomy

I had my hysterectomy 6 and 1/2 months ago, everything but my ovaries were removed. I have noticed that at the time of month that i used to have my periods my breasts still get very sore....tonight I went to the bathroom and when I wiped there was blood on the tissue , my first thought was hemmoroids but after I checked again the blood was vaginal. Is this normal or should i be worried....It was not a lot just when i wiped. I would appreciate any help on this.

Re: Spotting months after hysterectomy

Hi You might want to contact your doctor just to be sure, but if you kept your ovaries, it is certainly possible a little endometrial tissue was left behind at the vaginal cuff and you are having what we call mini-periods.

Re: Spotting months after hysterectomy

Hi - I recently (about 4 weeks ago) began noticing some very slight spotting too; my hysterectomy was over a year and a half ago and I still have my ovaries and cervix. There hasn't been any consistancy to it - there will be 5 days in between, or only 2. I understand your feelings, it's very worrisome!

Re: Spotting months after hysterectomy

Hi Yes it does worry you, especially after everything we've been through. This makes only the second time this has happened and both times were at the time I would have been having my period if I had'nt had the hysterectomy. I believe it is what Linda said...a "mini Period" . I have read alot of different posts about bleeding after a hysterectomy and it seems like it happens to alot of women. But if you are having alot of pain and it worries you alot I would call my Dr. Thanks for responding to my post
