Finally think I'm ready

I made the final call to the insurance company today about our benefits coverage... found out we are 100% covered as long as everyone down to the anesthesiologist is in-network.

i'm really scared, not about the actual surgery, more about the recovery and the allocation of responsibilities and household needs...

I'm sure this is perfectly normal right? I go back on the 18th of November for a 2nd session with my GYN to talk about more details and make sure i'm comfortable with all my options. And i'm shooting for Jan 6th for the actual surgery.

Re: Finally think I'm ready

Normal? Yeah, I'll say it is. I'm no drama llama, and I think of myself as being chock full of cope, but I've been getting a little ragged around the edges. I am very lucky to have lots of great people, here and elsewhere, who have got my back. My best friend, who had LSH last year, "held my hand" via IRC this morning and let me just come out and say, "Yep, the stress is getting to me." Her reply: that's ok, that's normal, you're coping fine and you're gonna be fine.

Do reach out to other women who have been through this -- they're such a wonderful resource. Reach out to others in your life as well -- people want to help. Right now, as I'm working, my brother is out on my porch hauling and stacking firewood, so I won't have to do it. He drove two hours to do it, and he'll drive two hours back home tonight. Don't try to cope with all your responsibilities on your own.

Re: Finally think I'm ready

Well, I say don't worry about the responsibilities. Enjoy the help many will offer. Take them up on their offers.

Goodluck with your upcoming surgery!
