Incision Question

I had abdominal hys on Jan 7th.

I had staples removed at hospital. Tape stricts were left in tact.

The incision seems to be healing well although the tape has now come off my body and now only sticking to the incision.

Do I just leave this as is and eventually the tapes will fall off the incision?

I have been keeping the area extremely dry but decided to let it get wet today in the shower....perhpas this is what I need to start doing so the tape will come off the incision. I dare not pull them off of it....yikes...ow

I had tape on my 3 little incisions and my Dr. told me not take them off, just let them fall off on their own. My Dh had a 8in incisions on his leg and he was told the same thing, it will all fall off in time.

I had staples taken out at hospital and strips were placed on Sunday. I went to doc on Thursday of that week they checked my incision and pulled off the strips, OUCH.

I had staples as well. Mine were removed on my 5th day in the hospital. They were replaced with Steri-strips. My told me to make sure that I DID get my incision wet in the shower. She said to make sure that I patted it dry - don't rub - and that the steri-strips would come off on their own.

I had my surgery on January 11th and I have about 4 strips left. I started out with about 20. My follow-up appointment is on January 29th and doc said all strips should be gone by then because by then they will start to get gross. I have 2 more showers before the appointment, so I think I'll make it.

Did your tell you not to get your incision wet or to make sure that it was dry after you showered?

I did let it get wet today in the shower and one came off but underneath the incision was a little sticky...yuck

I will now take a daily shower and let it get wet and I have my follow-up on Wednsday....I am good with needles, etc. but not with tearing off stick tape from a scab...YIKES
