Exercise Post-op

Just a short message to all of you..thanks for sharing your knowledge with the rest of us....I'm having tvh and bladder repair/rectocele on Jan 27. (Prolapsed uterus, fibroids, heavy bleeding). Currently, I am battling a sinus infection, my GP feels that it will be cleared up before my surgery. I haven't worked out in a week and am starting to feel it, lower back pain is much worse when I don't exercise. I do 1 hour cardio/weights 3 to 4 times a week, when do you think I'll be back at the gym?? will I be able to walk (ie: 3-4 km) post op 1 month?
Thanks for your support.

I had a TAH, which has a longer recovery time than a TVH. I did not need the other repairs you are having. I was allowed to walk as much as I wanted. By week 3 I had worked up to 3 miles (about 5 km?). I was cleared for all activities at 6 weeks and went back to more rigorous sports. The usual recovery time for a TVH is 2-4 weeks, but only your doctor can tell if you are healed enough.

Ask your doctor, but I don't think weights are the optimal exercise regimen for someone who suffers from back pain. You might want to consider something else.

Hi, this is something that you should talk to your dr about. Each person is different and heals differently. You and your dr should be able to work out a plan that should be best for you.
I am fairly active and my hyst was a tah/bso . At one month there's no way I could have handled a gym. My walks were longer by then but not as long as you mentioned.
Best wishes, I hope that your sinus infection clears up for you.
