How large is too large for VH??

Hello gals! I posted my story yesterday in Introduce yourself and ty for the replies. I have a Q? My Uro/Gyn surgeon tells me its possible to remove an 16-18 week uterus vaginally...tho I dont see any posts saying it is possible! Can the gals who had a vaginal hyst. tell me how large they were? Im starting to think perhaps I have the hip bones the size of a hippo? Im going to have vag hyst with A & P repair, see Dr on friday for biopsy and possible setting of surgery date. Im almost praying this thing comes out before my next peroid is due!

My gyn told me he for vaginal hysts, the uterus should be 10-weeks or less. Perhaps your gyn is going to cut yours into pieces and remove it. If you have a pre-op appointment, ask him then. Maybe because you are having additional work done, he can do yours vaginally.

I had my LAVH 2 weeks ago. Don't know what the 16 week means as my doctor never said anything about that. When my doctor called after 1 week to check on me, he told me that I had one of the biggest uterus he had seen. He said a normal uterus weighs about 100 grams and mine weighed 500 grams. mg: He also told me that he had to cut mine up to get it out. Maybe that is what your doctor plans to do if yours is big. Good luck with your upcoming surgery. May everything go better than planned.

My uterus was approx 16 wks and was removed vaginally without any problems. I had also delivered a 10lb baby vaginally, which my Dr. said contributed to her confidence that my hyst could be done.

Hi All, I had a VH just 3 weeks ago and the dr told me before surgery he would try and do it vaginaaly but it was the size of a 14 week preg. She was able to do it vaginally but she had to cut it into pieces to remove it, but all is well now and I am almost as good as new.

Thank you girls...I had this hilarious vision of the Dr standing up on the table, one foot on my tooshie trying to pull this uterus out! I feel more confident and will ask lots of Q's tomorrow!
