Incision drainage?

I had a LSH w/BSO and had complications and ended up with a TAH. I am 2 weeks and 3 days out and one area of my incision has started leaking fluid out again! This is the second time, it happened about 1 week ago and it drained and drained then my stomach area felt so much better and it quit so I never called my doctor. Today I got up from a chair and it gushed out again and at first I thought I wet my pants! I know this sounds so discusting but has anyone else experienced this and if so what did you do? Should I call my doctor?

Incision drainage?

I had this happen at 2 weeks. Burst everywhere. Mine is still draining a week later and apparently can do so for awhile. It has to now heal from the inside out. You certainly should call your doctor because there is a risk of infection that needs to be monitored. Cover the area with gauze if possible. If not, find a clean pair of old cotton undies to keep on it until you can obtain cotton gauze. Blessings.

Thanks for the information! Did they put you on meds for the chance of infection? I am so sick of taking pills! I will call today! This site has been so helpful!

so far, I am not on any meds. The drainage is looking just fine with no signs of infection. It does have to be monitored and I take my temp every day (wait 10 minutes after eating to get a proper temp). If temp goes over 100 for more than a few hours, that would mean trouble. So far, I'm cool as a cucumber.

Incision drainage?

hey sisters,

same problem, started 6 days ago, going to dr on Monday. i got really scared Saturday because the incision opened 1/4" and called sister-in-law who is a surgeon, told her what was going on and my dr wanted me to wait a week (no fever) keep gauze on it keeping it dry...but the opening freaked me out. she said this was common, follow Dr's instructions and wear surgical binder. fluid is by product / waste of healing process and part of the sweely belly - mine is going down drastically, but I'm dripping like a leaking faucet. l am sooo looking forward to healing, sil said wound would heal when it stopped dripping.

here's praying we are all dry soon!
