swelly belly 4 months post op

Just need to know I am not the only one....have been feeling pretty good. 4 months out from surgery. Back to working a full schedule and trying to be the super mom I was prior to surgery for my family. Still get tired when I do too much but that is taken care of with some extra rest. Only thing that is still bothering me is the swelly belly. It has been horrible this past week with all of the holiday prep and family visiting. Lots more standing and less opportunities for extra rest. Anyone with any good suggestions other than the usual rest and use of an ice pack??? Thanks.

Sorry to hear your belly isn't cooperating with your holiday festivities.
Something I found that helped was support. It came in many forms....
the "special" control panties
a girdle
control top panty hose

Whatever works for you and is comfortable. I found the control panties the best, though. They fit better and provided support without feeling binding.

You aren't the only one. I am in the same boat with you. Still tire easier than I use to. Still get swelly belly. Swelly belly hasn't left in the past two weeks as holiday stuff hasn't allowed much time to put my feet up. There is not a break in our upcoming schedule either. I don't know what else I can do. When rest isn't an option what do we do? I would love for the dr to write a script for rest and relaxation and no formal events to try to fit the belly into things! Just wanted to say, you aren't alone! I am with you

I'm happy to say 6 months out my swelly belly is gone. I thought it would never leave. I'm sorry to say the only way I could control it was to sit with my feet up and take it easy. If I wore control top panties I would swell more. I guess the swelling is the only way our bodies can tell us to continue to take it easy that we're STILL healing. Enjoy the holidays anyway!
