Question about resuming intimacy

I was told I have to wait 8 weeks because they have found that the heal time at the top of the vagina takes longer-they are not sure why though. My doctor said the standard is 6 weeks if you had your uterus removed via the vagina because of the sitches put at the top of it take so long to heal. It made me second guess the da vinci because 2 weeks is a long time!! :-) 1 week down, 7 to go!

From what I understand, my doc removed my uterus by cutting it into sections via laproscope and removed the pieces individually through my vagina, no stitches or inscision, but she still told me 6 - 8 weeks.

Anne- Even though you are unable to see them you should have stitches in your vag cuff. Since you had LAVH then they removed your cervix and had to stitch that closed. That is why you have to wait 6-8wks. When I went back for my 6wks check up my stitches still hadn't healed so I had to wait until 8wks.

Thanks Jessie! My doc has not told me alot about exactly what they did, only that they were removing everything in pieces. Personally I dont mind waiting 3 - 4 Months .... my libido has been NIL for about 2 - 3 years now.
