Re: Body changes and depression after hysterectomy

Is yoga really as good as the exercise magazines say it is? Does it really help?

Re: Body changes and depression after hysterectomy

I don't know a lot about yoga myself. What I do know is that it's very much about not just assuming poses but rather feeling what your body is doing and how energy flows through your body while you're doing the poses. I can't help but think that this would go a long way towards helping you reclaim and reconnect with your body.

Re: Body changes and depression after hysterectomyyo

Yoga is amazing and very restorative, there are many different types of instructors so find one that you like and you will notice a difference. I have also used elements DVDs for yoga and they are very helpful,vi struggled with depression and anxiety and yoga has been one of the best things I ever did for myself.

I do yoga and it helps. Once you can do the moves, you feel so much better about yourself.

For me I think any exercise you enjoy is a good exercise.

In your research mrsjohnnie, does it get better after month 3? You and I are in the same recovery thread and I have noticed a lot more having the same symptoms as both you and I are having.

I do yoga and it helps me with the aches and pains but I haven't noticed any weight lose from it.

I noticed that since my surgery I have felt so much older. I will be 47 on Friday. I have found when I have bought new clothes I am more modest then I use to be. Not sure if that is because I just don't like my body anymore or ?. My breasts use to be 1 of my best features and now they are more saggy and smaller. So I make sure my tops don't reveal that. Also all I wear are skirts now. They are more comfortable because I can wear them above my belly (does that make sense?) and most of them are elastic waist. My brilliant 17 yr old pointed out that she thought I was wearing skirts to be more feminine since she didn't think I was feeling like a woman since I don't' have a uterus anymore. That could be true too.

Just know you are not alone. Feel free to vent anytime!!!!!
