OMG I got constipated!!

This has by far been my worst nightmare - 2 weeks post op and still not going what would consider normally. Lots...of pain in my rectal area even when not trying to go. I hope this will go away.

I had EXTREME problems ending up back in hospital for a day at 2 weeks. I had been doing all the right things... dr said it was probably reaction to drugs. I went overboard on everything then until finally I became loose at about 7 weeks and then went slowly back to my 'normal' healthy diet!!

A dr friend recommended- kiwi fruits, pears with a coarse skin, water, walking, stool softeners. I also did prunes, prune juice, many portions of fruit/veg in general.

Good luck! I know it's not fun.

A nurse in the hospital used to work in the nursing home, she said what worked best with older patients is getting a little prune juice, a little dr pepper and mixing it and warming it in the microwave...

The pillow sounds like a good idea, though my tummy area isn't what bothers me the most...it's the rectal area...but now I seem to be on the other end of it, the D word...it was killing me.

That was funny, but only because I can totally relate. I screamed so loud from the gas pain the other day my daughter came running in from outside to check on me. Thanks for the laugh!
