Stitch hanging out? Help!
I'm 2 weeks post-op. Supracervical lap hyst, prolapse and TVT bladder repair. Started running fever 3 days ago, 102. Dr gave me antibiotics for bladder infection yesterday. Today, all of a sudden it felt like there was something scratching or sticking me from the inside when I walked. Like a wire sticking out or something. Yeah - I know, this is probably gross - but I got a mirror & looked ... and a long black suture with a huge knot on the end is sticking out of my vagina. Today is Sat & my next followup appt is on Wednesday. Should I wait - or call the Dr tomorrow or Monday? Is this common. Have I ripped something? Anyone else with this experience?

Stitch hanging out? Help!
I don't think I've had much pain from the hysterectomy, it has all been pain from the prolapse repair or TVT urethra sling. I can't sit up straight or ride in a car without horrible pain. Now, I have that suture sticking out that seems to rub back & forth when I walk. Feels strange.

Stitch hanging out? Help!
If it was me... I would call my Doctors answering service tonight. Why worry all night. You need your rest.
If it's serious, the Doctor will tell you what to do, if it's not.. at least you will have some peace of mind.
Take care and Let us know how you are.

Stitch hanging out? Help!
Thanks ladies. I'm not in such a panic today. I read where several others have posted prior about sutures sticking out. I've decided to wait until tomorrow morning (Monday) to call. My scheduled appt is on Wed - but I'll call & see what they say tomorrow. My fever is normal now, so I guess the bladder infection is responding to the meds.
I was just afraid that I had overdone it & caused something to rip. I'm not good at asking for help. I know that I've picked up over 5 pounds and I've had to climb stairs. I also have asthma and have been coughing more than usual lately. Coughing really seems to strain everything down there and it causes extreme pain! Yesterday when I was climbing the stairs to come in the house, I happened to cough just as I pulled up on one step. That's when I first felt the suture/knot begin to scrape inside after each step I take walking.
I just needed someone to talk to about this.
Thanks!
