Tired of looking so bloated

I know that some of my appearance of obesity is due to lack of exercise (pain-related and fatigue-related), but when the size of my tummy varies throughout the day I know not all of that is fat. My last 2 months on Lupron I thought I could finally throw away my "fat" jeans although I hadn't lost weight.

I've been bleeding, minor spotting and occasional clots, for going on 3 weeks now. On Depo Provera for 3 months, my next injection is due in 2 weeks. Has anyone experienced major reduction in bloating following surgery for endo or after a hysterectomy?

I have more bloating post hysterectomy for endometriosis than I ever had prior to my hysterectomy! There are some clothes I just can't wear when I am bloated as they are too tight and extremely unattractive looking with !!

Hopefully, if surgery is right for you, it will resolve your bloating issues! Talk to your doctor about this specific concern in case it is related to another health condition. Some of mine is related to IBS and IC, both conditions prevalent in women with endometriosis.

Re: Tired of looking so bloated

Well, for added fun, I have lower back pain and evidence of nerve damage at the sacroiliac joint but nothing showed up on an MRI as damage to any structures. I do have spinal arthritis and stenosis in my neck with nerve damage, but with the inconclusive results with the MRI with my lower back, I guess it's possible that it's endo aggravating a nerve or both. I feel like I need Dr. House to take my case LOL. I've been bleeding a month now and things aren't improving. My OB/GYN has been great but her solution was to prescribe pain pills. Which I cannot take if I am expected to function. I have just registered with an endo specialist and will be sending my medical records to him. No offense to my OBGYN but if it's endo as well as adeno, I want it all taken care of with one surgery if at all possible.

My bloating went away about 6 weeks after my surgery. I didn't notice any reduction with the Lupron but am happy to say its most gone now. I do have an occasional day where I seem to swell back up here and there but they are few and far between.

Weiser,

I am almost 10 weeks post op and I am so bloated. It seems to get worse as the day goes on. My bloating is worse since my surgery than it was before it too. I know swelly belly takes a while to go away but this is getting rediculous. I will be so glad when it is gone.

Re: Tired of looking so bloated

Being less than a week from my LAVH, I don't have much insight. I will tell you that I had major bloating (14 pounds worth) right after surgery. My weight is normal as of now (6 days later) but my tummy is still somewhat big. It looks just like my period bloating days. My doc told me that if I keep my ovaries, I'll still have monthly bloating cuz of hormones.

I had a LAVH on May 26 and thought my Swelly belly may not be so bad but its awful. It will go down then I do something that exerts even the slightest bit of energy and its huge. HATE it.

Re: Tired of looking so bloated

Not to be discouraging or disheartening, but my hysterectomy was almost 10 years ago. The bloating issue I mentioned in my post is not related to surgery. It is part of the health issues I live with on a daily basis--endometriosis, IBS, IC, and more.

If your swelling belly is a direct result of surgery, yes, it will go away. If your bloating issues are related to health issues, it may be helped by surgery but it might not go away entirely.
