Vesicovaginal Fistula

so i had my hysterectomy 7 weeks ago. when they went in my bladder was fused to my uterus and when they pulled them apart there was a small hole in my bladder. the Dr fixed it but since then i have had SEVERE urinary incontinence. i don't even have to move and i can have a flash flood. my sister calls me the walking fountain.
I am told by my Dr that i have a Vesicovaginal Fistula, a hole from my bladder to my vagina. so instead of draining urine out my urethra, it goes out my vagina.
how common is this issue? i am scheduled to see a specialist next week but i cant find anything on successful repairs. whats the recovery like? what should i be expecting when i go in?
any insight would be helpful.

Re: Vesicovaginal Fistula

I don't have a vesicovaginal fistula. I have a rectovaginal fistula. I can't answer your questions but go to the bladder and pelvic floor forums and you will see posts from other hystersisters. Hope this helps. Good luck.
