Pain revisited

I'm 2 weeks post-op today and up until now have had things pretty easy. I haven't had much pain, in fact I've only used Ibuprofen since the day of surgery because I have an intolerance to narcotic pain meds (they just made me feel worse). My problem is, starting last evening, I started having more abdominal discomfort and deep shooting pains behind my pubic bone. My surgery consisted of a TVH, anterior/posterior repairs and a suburethral sling (Burch procedure). So I expected to have some pain, but it just seems odd that it's coming on worse after 2 weeks. I don't know if I should call my doctore or not, I'm thinking maybe to just wait a day or so and see if it improves. So far, no bleeding or discharge of any type, just the pain. Help!

Pain revisited

I had a TAH and so can't help you but I do know that I was feeling great weeks 1 and 2 and not nearly as good weeks 3 and 4.

It seems like a lot of people fall into this pattern. Maybe we overdo things? Not sure why but that's how it happened.

I seemed to have feel worse at week two as well. Take it easy and slow down a bit. I know I was excited thinking I was ready to do more than I was actually ready for. Be safe and try taking it easy.

I had the same exact surgery as you did wilpn. I am having terrible pain and like you, can't take 99% of narcotic pain killers. Are you having an increased temp? Does it hurt more all the time or only in certain positions? Does it hurt to push on it? If you are worried, don't lose a minute's sleep and call your doc. Maybe heat would soothe the discomfort. I'm not having the same exact pain as you are, but I am suffering too. Best wishes to ya, sister.

Pain revisited

Thanks idahonurse,
I haven't been running much of a temp, just around 100 and usually only at night. The pain also seems to radiate to my left ovary area. I'm giving the Dr. a call today. I think 3 days of this is enough. It doesn't seem to matter what position I'm in or what I'm doing. Heat has helped some, but only temporarily. It's probably just normal healing and things shifting around but I don't think we should let ourselves be uncomfortable as it may just slow the healing process. I hate pain meds and have just been taking ibuprofen from day one, but at this point I'm willing to try something at least at night so I can get some sleep.

Pain revisited

My hysterectomy was on Oct. 5 and just as everyone else has said, you feel pretty good for the first couple of weeks post op and then the pain and cramping start up. I guess just like cubfan said, maybe we over do it because here we just had a major abdominal surgery and we feel this good ??? I have had some back aches but since yesterday my abdomen has been crampy, and sore. Hopefully things will recover soon and we can be back up to no good !!!!

Pain revisited

I felt great pain-wise until about day 5 and then I thought what happened!!! But that's when the bruising came out on the outside, so I'm sure that's what is going on on the inside as well. Just think of the nerves that must be trying to get straightened out! I found that not moving around too much helps and Motrin always helped me more than the narcotics and doesn't make me sick. I hope you feel better soon!

Pain revisited

I'm post op 4 weeks and I have just started to have more pain and going to the doc tomorrow to see what's going on. I did have an infection and took anti's for that so hoping that's not the problem. I think that maybe we all should get together and take a 8 week trip to Bora Bora and rest. wishfull thinking LOL......... Hope that you start feeling better.......
