Newbie with Basic Question about Endometrial Hyperplasia

I have always had heavy periods with clots but for the past 6 months my periods are 20-22 days apart instead of 29-31 days apart that I am use to. I went for my Pap (its been 3 years since my last) she noticed that my uterus felt thick so she sent me for an ultrasound. I had the ultrasound done on Day 9 of my cycle and my lining measured 13mm. It also showed a fibroid measuring 3.6cm on the back of my uterus and a cyst measuring 2.2cm on my right ovary. I had an in office biopsy done 2 days later.
At the last appointment my doctor suggested I have a hysterectomy done to remove everything except my ovaries to get rid of the fibroid and the thickened endometrial lining. She said that I would eventually need a hysterectomy regardless so I can either do it now when I'm younger or wait until I'm older when I could have issues healing. I was sent home to wait on biopsy results and to figure out when I wanted to have the surgery done.
A couple days ago the nurse calls with my biopsy results and she says, "Good news, the test came back normal." She couldn't explain anything past that and said I would have to wait to speak with my doctor in a few weeks.
So my question is..... can you have thickening without it being considered endometrial hyperplasia or does she mean its "Simple". SO confused!!
Any input would be so helpful!

Garbage. My hysterectomy was for endometrial cancer, which typically occurs in women in their 50s and 60s. I was 55. I healed just fine and so do most other women.

Is it possible for you to get a second opinion? Your current doc seems to be a bit too much in love with the hysterectomy option.

Hyperplasia refers to any case of "excess proliferation" of endometrial cells. It could mean that you have lots and lots of perfectly normal endometrial cells. In that case, the hyperplasia would have a very low risk of eventually turning into cancer.

If the cells showed atypical (abnormal) features, that would indicate a higher risk of eventually turning into cancer.

Perhaps they could vaginally remove fibroid and do an ablation procedure. You stay in tact, remove fibroid and potentially no longer have a cycle....
