Back pain??

Anyone have suggestions for night time back pain? My Dr says the fibroids are so large that when I lay down the are pressing on muscles, tendons etc. I can't seem to find a comfortable position to sleep in. The pain is so svere that when I finally do fall asleep & then roll it wakes me up. My surgery is scheduled for Aug 15th & would love to get a few good nights sleep before then. Thanks for any suggestions.!!

Back pain??

Hello sister,

I don't know if I can be of much help. I took ibuprofen and used a heating pad pretty much all during the day. That would help me but I don't know if it would help you at night as you can't sleep with a heating pad, too dangerous.

But I will tell you that the hysterectomy solved all of my back pain, thank goodness!!! I had one fibroid that was quite large and growing off of the back lower left of my uterus and I used to have such horrid lower left back pain. I feel like a new woman now!

Good luck and best wishes! You will soon be a !

Back pain??

Its hard to sleep I know I had the same problems.... After 3 years of pain, I am finally going in to get rid of my fibroids July 17th. But in May I finally broke down and got the Temper-Pedic mattress I have always wanted, I will tell you it helped BIG TIME!! I not only sleep 85% better I actually feel better in the day time due to my better nights rest. Those little nagging aches and pains I had due to no restful RIM sleep area all done too!!! They have Temper-Pedic mattress in hotels now too, look on the internet for a hotel in your area that has them to try it out before you buy, you wont be sorry, I am so happy I finally broke down and got mine.. I plan on sleeping better from now on! Good luck on your surgery..

Me too

thanks for sharing your pain. I have had increasing low back right and rt. hip pain for 3-4 yrs. the past 6 mo. at night I wake up throbbing and turn from side to side trying to find relief. I take 800 mls. Ibuprofen and stick a pillow between my knees. sometimes the Ibu helps sometimes not. TAH Aug 3rd-hoping that the large 18+ cm. fibroid mass is what has been causing this. It's good to know I'm not alone. thanks.

This comes from my physio therapist (I feel she knows more than any spcecialist i've seen)...
pillow under knees, sleep on your back.
or, sleeping on your side...
pillow between your knees, small pillow or rolled up hand-towel at waist, and one more (optional) pillow beside your chest (hugging) to keep your lean (to one side) minimal.

let me know how it works for you. i've tried it but move around in my sleep too much. it is however comfortable to fall asleep.

Back pain??

Find a good chiropractor. Mine has been a life saver! Not only has he relieved almost all of my back symptoms, regular check ups keep everything aligned so I don't have 'bad days' any more. Plus he's treating me pre-op and then post-op to help make sure everything settles back into place. My chiro is awesome. He is a twist and pop chiro. Infact he's never grabbed and jerked anything to make it crack. He is a magician. He's been the first person to help me relieve my pain without jumping on the prescription pain killer train.
