Painful to eat, pee, poop, have gas?Is this normal?
yes, I hurt like that for a very long time. I am at the 8 week mark and I am just now feeling better. The gas and bm/bladder issues were very difficult. I had a lot of repairs as well as a TSH. I think the bladder sling, cystocele, and rectocele repairs really delayed my healing time the most, but I am so happy I did it! I can now cough and sneeze without having an accident and I can have BM's now!! The best relief (and I tried EVERYTHING) was Milk of Magnesia. I still take one tablet every night around 9 pm and every morning is a breeze. I will ease up on it when I am sure I am healed back there so as not to complicate matters with straining. Be patient. it gets better, I promise. Even though, it seems to take a long time, you will be very glad in a few weeks. Do take advil or tylenol and gasx for the pain. They really help a lot.

I second the Milk of Magnesia! I used the liquid form though, cherry flavor! I too had sharp stabbing pains in my abs, down to my rectum during bm's. There was one time it hurt so bad I yelled to my DH "I quit for now!" LOL I did quit, waited an hour and it seemed a little better. I was told that everything down there is still in "shock" and the body & brain are kinda missing a beat, which causes the sharp pains. It seemed to get better by week 3, so hang in there & remember to breathe!
Hugs!

Painful to eat, pee, poop, have gas?Is this normal?
I had gas pains and bm issues after my surgery. A nurse told me to rock back and forth and breath deeply while trying to pass gas - it helps. Also, laying on your side does help with the pain. As far as the BM's, I called my Dr. about 1 1/2 weeks ago because I was really struggling. He told me not to take laxatives but to up my water intake and walk more and eat more fiber. I thought I was drinking alot and walking alot but when I increased it; it really helped me with the bathroom issues. I'm not back to normal but I'm doing something in that area every day which makes me feel alot better.

You might have an anal fissure due to all the anesthesia and pain medication. I found that drinking more water and increasing the fiber in take helped me better that the stool softeners. Hope you feel better soon!

Total hysterectomy, removal of both ovaries and cervix. 3/5/07
Was just getting over painful bowel movements. It was as if I could feel it moving down my intestines and the pain was so unbearable, I too cried. I get so afraid to poop and very uncomfortable if I don't. I use exlax, if I don't there is nothing but pain and impaction. I try rolaids plus gas, sometimes midol and cry alot. I hear Progesterone cream helps with the bloating which I also have. A bit better now, except that I am working with a compounding pharmasist and still adjusting. I hope you feel better soon.

Ahhhhh, this is exactly how I feel. I'm 19 days post-op and I'm still going thru all of this. When I discussed it with my Dr. he said I wasn't telling him anything that concerned him at this point. He said it all sounded "normal" for this point post op.
Reading this makes me empathize with you. I always feel like I can feel it moving down my intestines then the pain is horrendous right before it comes out.(tmi) But it is awful. It does make it where I really just wish I didn't have to poop at all, but I know that would be a whole new set of problems!
I hope you feel better really soon!!

I also hope it gets better for you, it has for me until 4 days ago. Today it is much better, and yet I'm not eating very much.

Just me - You are sooooo not alone as you can see. The BM pain has to be the worst. Mine started at 6 days post op and I swore something was damaged during surgery - perhaps a stitch in my bowel. The pain and resulting curling up on the floor scared my DH to death. It does get better! I am at 8 weeks post op now and have not had that sensation for 4 weeks now.
For me help came with lots of water, fiber, stool softener and walking. OH - and Motrin Walk as much as you possibly can. It will cause more movements....but each day it hurts a little less. My doc said many women go through a slow or out of rhythm awakening of the bowels from the anesthesia. It takes time for them to regain the right muscle contraction dance. Hugs to you. Keep your doc informed also of all your symptoms.

Well I was warned about the possibility of bladder spasms and vaginal spasms but nobody warned me about the painful BMs. It really does make one consider giving them up!
When I first came out of surgery I was most worried about constipation, 2 days post OP I started with diarrhea and that lasted about a week. The Doc chalked it up to the antibiotics and while annoying I wasn't leaving the house much anyway so not a real big issue. I ate lots of bananas and rice. Now The BMs are pretty normal, just accompanied by some pretty severe pain. I'm eating the probiotic yogurt and lots of fibre and drinking lots of water, hoping this calms down very soon. It's just good to know I'm not alone!
