No Colleen, you are not alone. I was amazed when I first posted with my problems how many other woman were in the same boat. Very scary as the pain is severe - not just a discomfort. I sat on the toilet once and just cried through the whole episode.

Painful to eat, pee, poop, have gas?Is this normal?

Wow Ladies, here I thought all my BM pain was from the C-diff infection I left the hospital with. A ct scan showed a section of my bowel inflamed and upon further testing they determined it was this nasty airborne hospital infection....highly contagious and very painful. The gas, and nausea and diarhea were just awful. Since I got home, after 12 days, I thought all this bowel pain was from that....but apparently not!!! I too can feel each movement just rip through me...I cry on the toilet. I was given Gas-X in the hospital and protonics. My antibiotic therapy for the C-diff will finish tomorrow. My appetite has been ravenous...although I can find little that doesn't taste awful...I think it must be the antibiotics...vancomycin and I also have thrush in my mouth. I've been on antibiotics since surgery, three different ones. I can soooo sympathize with you all....my doc said the intestines are filling in the empty spaces and readjusting themselves. She also said they are bruised and battered by handling during the surgery and it takes time to heal them. She's instructed me to take my temp twice a day and watch for any signs of fever.

I've had an unusual drainage from my incision site. Each day, starting one week after surgery, my belly would just shoot off fluid....bloody at first and now just watery yellow. It's down to a trickle now each day. It was one to two liters each day before. I feel my belly swelling though from this fluid that isn't draining anymore. I think the opening she made in my incision is healing over again. Anyone else experience this massive fluid after surgery? It doesn't hurt...it just surprised everyone when it first started...they thought I was hemorraghing..

it sounds like you have really had it rough! I feel for you, girl! I hope you get everything cleared up really soon and feel better.
I am 3 weeks post op today and still having very painful BM's, urination, and gas. I can't wait for the day I am back to normal again.
It will come, right?
Thinking of all of you going through the same thing. It's awful!

I know what your saying

I`m 1 week out of surgery, and I`m finding the same thing about the gas, everything I eat seems to bring it on, and when I try to expel it, I`m straining so much the bleeding starts again
BMs are painful, gasx helps, but how much is a person supposed to take?

so what's my problem

My TAH was in November and I did not have any problems with bowl movements or gas until NOW. I have had hemmroids for over 2 months and terrible gas pain. I called my gyno and she would not see me, she said to go to my regular physician. My regular Dr put me on suppositories and stool softeners. It's not working I just get more abdominal pain and diarreah. My Dr decided to run some tests. They are testing me for Thyroid and anemia. I was feeling great until all this started. I have not been able to excersize for more that 2 months and it is killing me. I cannot sit, walk or stand for very long due to the hemmroid pain. Has anyone experienced this? Help... I need some relief.

I still have problems with constipation, but I always have, the painful last turn of the bowel has greatly improved, yet while it was awful I cried and almost screamed when I was on the toliet. In this case I believe time will heal.

have amy of you been checked by the doctor to see if you have irritable bowel syndrome? that can cause very painfull gas. or what about a UTI? I think my secret trick to the urine thing is LOTS of water , makes me pee alot but it doesn't hurt when I do. Just trying to help.Good luck

Painful to eat, pee, poop, have gas?Is this normal?

yeah...my first week, my bladder felt like a baby was kicking it! it has finally settled down and doesn't hurt so bad. don't know if it was bruised, or if that's what they call bladder spasms, or what, but i'm glad it's gotten better...not completely, but at least not as bad as it was, so i have hope for my intestines! i know they are just traumatized from surgery, as the dr. told me the first thing they did when they opened me up was to pack my intestines to protect them from the surgical field. they don't feel quite as bad as they did, but it still feels like i can feel my food making its way thru my intestines, and then it hurts right before everything comes out (i know...tmi) but once it does....relief!!!
