6 weeks post hysterectomy: Mood swings!!!

Please, tell me if I'm normal or if I'm going insane! Because I feel like I have lost my mind with the mood swings/crying/and extreme anger. I'm like a deranged witch! My poor husband and kids must hate me about now. I am about 7 weeks post op, and this has been going on not quite a week. I DID keep my ovaries, so I am not going through menopause or whatever. In the past, I would have occasional mood swings/PMS at that time of month, but not very regularly.

Not sure if I can be much help but... 2 years ago I had both Fallopian tubes removed and kept ovaries, uterus, cervix, and I had menopause symptoms for 6 months straight at that time with (hot flashes, mood swings, crying, night sweats, insomnia, and anger that turned into a witch lol) the doctor said it was due to my body recovering and anytime there's and surgery and movement or interruption in the reproductive area during the recovery would have slight menopause symptoms.. It will go away... I am now 13 days post op TAH/BSO everything is out and I've been going through Surgical Menopause since post op day #4... It's been horrible and I'm getting an increase in my HRT Estrogen tomorrow because the menopause is pretty harsh and kicking my butt lol... Please rest well and hope things get better :-) we are all here for you ❤️

Re: Mood swings!!!

I am soo glad I'm not the only one! I'm trying soo hard to be nice but I just turn out to snap at hubby and kids without wanting too. I have hot sweats even with air-con on, insomnia, crying at the drop of a hat. I tell you it's not nice at all 😞

My op was on the 10th of this month and truly hoping it gets better

Re: 6 weeks post hysterectomy: Mood swings!!!

thanks for posting your experiences. I had a tvh and kept my ovaries. I have been frightened of having extreme emotional disturbance (my mom was a nut when she went through menopause). I have had some bad pms/mood swings over the past few years. I don't know if I'll be totally off when it's time for my period to come next time. I know I won't have the period but worried about hormone imbalance later on this month when it would have come. I have Ativan at the ready just in case.
