Sorry you're still dealing with pain.
After your doctor drained the hematoma, did she do additional scans to see that it had resolved?
I was also diagnosed with a large (19x9x4 cm.) hematoma running along my incision line, in front of my abdominal wall. They didn't discover the hematoma until I was 7 months post-op; however, this wasn't because they didn't see it -- it's because I wasn't feeling it because my belly remained numb. I just thought I was a slow healer.
Anyway, after they diagnosed my hematoma, it was decided to just watch and wait and see if it would resolve on its own. Scan after scan over the next three months showed that it absolutely did NOT resolve. So the decision was made to attempt to drain it, which was done in the doc's office with a syringe.
A few days later, I felt "full" again, with that familiar feeling that I had a brick sitting in my belly. I consulted the doctor, who said it wasn't possible that it was back, but if it would make me feel better, he'd order an ultrasound to make sure. I went in for the ultrasound, and the next morning, I got a VERY early phone call from the doctor. I could tell right away the news wasn't good, and sure enough -- he said, "It's back." Not a hematoma, mind you -- because there wasn't any active bleeding going on or I'd be back in the OR on an emergency basis for sure.
What he said was that my hematoma had also formed a capsule, sort of like a cyst does sometimes. The capsule had gotten all comfortable, and after they drained it, the capsule filled up with other fluid. They renamed it a "seroma", and drained it two more times. Each time, it filled up again.
Finally, the decision was made to surgically remove the capsule, which was done the day before my first hysterversary.
I tell you this because unless they did testing to make sure, it is possible that you are still retaining fluid. I found my hematoma/seroma to be quite painful, especially after eating or when anything was moving through my bowels.
This sort of situation isn't the norm -- so I'm not surprised that your doctor is skeptical. But it's worth another look, in my opinion.
As for the hormones, I am sorry I can't help you with that. I'm hoping another (((sister))) can come along with more insight on that part of your situation.
