Thank you, thank you and 2 days to go!
First of all, I want to say thank you for this site and all the information I've gained since finding it. This is only my third post, but I've been reading, reading reading! My DSO thinks I'm a little nuts with all the time I've spent on here. It's hard to explain the need to surround yourself with the thoughts and words of other women who have been through this. But, he gives me a hug and says whatever I need to do. He does get a laugh out of the little dancing uterus we've seen!
My DR has been after me for years to have this hysterectomy done. I can't even remember the last time I had a normal hemoglobin! But, like a lot of you... I just wasn't ready. In December, with my blood count hovering at the 7 gram mark, my DR put her foot down. I was put on mega iron suppliments and lupron to try and build my blood back up. I personally had a very weird reaction to the lupron from what I know. I never had any menopausal symtoms and it actually made my bleeding worse. I have been bleeding in some form (spotting to flooding) since January 16th! This included a episode last month that put me in the hospital overnight where I passed a clot so-o big that my DD, LOL, told me she thought I'd given birth to an alien baby! She's a firm believer that laughter can get you through anything. I thought my uterus was falling out.
ANYWAY, I am now completely ready to have this over with. The lurpon didn't really do much to shrink the fibroids, and the fibroids have pushed my uterus around so much that the DR says it's in there sideways. That explains why I've hurt so much the last month or so.
Up until then, I guess I've been fairly lucky on the pain part, compared to what a lot of you've been through. But from this site I've learned that some of the other things that have bothered me (fullness, heaviness and bowel problems) very well could all be related to my "female problems".
You've helped me make up my mind on the ovary issue (they're going), told me about needing a tummy pillow, let me know I'd need something loose to wear home from the castle (I'd of brought jeans!),and let me know that I'm NOT going to be racking my yard or painting my bedroom 3 weeks post-op like I thought I would be!
I pass the word of this site along to anyone that I think might benefit and I'm planning on telling my DR about how wonderful it is at my post-op appointment.
Geez, this has gotten long, I just felt the need to ramble this morning (nerves?). It seems like the last few days I've had to stay busy and get things in order. House is spotless, laundry done, job's in check, support system verified. And now I'm kinda antsy. Thanks for listening to me, Ladies.

Thank you, thank you and 2 days to go!
Dear Sunny,
Thanks for your post. I had a great laugh at the "alien baby". I've passed a few of those in my time, too. I've been fortunate not to have low blood counts though. Like you, I've bled more often than not for the past year and this lavh/bso on April 4 is a long time coming and VERY welcome.
I am also pretty nervous, mainly over my insurance, which changes on April 1 and the new company doesn't have us in their system yet, no cards, etc so my DR's office still doesn't have pre-authorization and I'm having anxiety over the possiblity of having to postpone surgery until the ins co. gets its act together. At least its a good place to put my other anxieties!
General anesthesia always worries me. I have asthma, and did not have problems in the last surgery a few years ago, but there's always a first time. Of course, its been worse this week, too, since our weather here in NC has been quite changable and allergy season is upon us. I also always worry about being sick from the anesthesia afterwards. YUCK!
I have my bag packed with all of the helpful suggestions from this board and have made a list of questions for my DH to ask the DR afterwards. Hopefully, my dr will be able to perform this laproscopically and not have to do an abdominal incision, but I think I am prepared here at home if that turns out to be the case.
I have a friend coming to watch over me on Monday for as long as I need him. I hope I don't end up sleeping in his face!
Well, good luck--you will be in my thoughts and prayers.
See you on the post-op board soon! J.

Five days to go
Good luck to you. Yes, I agree, this is a great web site. My sister and I have both really gotten so much from the posts. I have my visit to the castle this Friday. I'm having a LAP hyster for bladder and rectal repair, as well as prolapse. I have had two opinions and they both agree on this path, but my confidence is decreasing as the day for the surgery arrives. I think the main problem is that I am basically (thank God) healthy and I don't want to compromise that. I am 55 years old, have been on HRT for three years, still some hot flashes, and really want to dance, hike and walk again without changing undies. But now I find myself starting to shake in my boots! to you

Sunny, best wishes to you on the 1st. Since you have everything in order and feel prepared for your castle visit why don't you do something special for yourself today. After all you're about to become a princess and princesses deserve special treats.
Hang in there!
