Has anyone had their hyst and all looked normal inside???

This is such a personal decision if no cancer is involved and we choose to do this. i think most people are happy with it after they have the hyster done and are past the recovery part..but its so huge to just take out the uterus because bleeding is so horrific when maybe other options are available..please get 2 or 3 opinions..right now as for me i had an ablation 5 days ago and cant really say anything negative so far. too early to tell. but even this was scarey to be in the operating room going under general anesthesia..hysterectomy scares the heck out of me for lots of reasons...i suggest researching all other options out there..

But I have felt really good about moving forward with the LAVH as I do have issues and don't want to deal with them anymore. Maybe I am taking the easy way out, maybe not.

I guess we won't know until the dr goes in.

So I am just curious if anyone has ever had a hyst and there parts looked good still?

Hi Havehope ~ I just had my LAVH on 6/2 All my parts were still looking good. It was my decision to have a hysterectomy because I had a history of abnormal paps. I never did very well with the LEEP procedure that they do to treat it, so I figured because of my age (52) and the fact that I am already 3 years into menopause, I just didn't want to have a pre-cancerous condition get any worse. So I had a LAVH and also both ovaries removed. It might have been an easy way out for me....But I feel better knowing that I won't have any problems with abnormal paps anymore ~ So i feel I made the right choice. Good luck to you !

I have also opted for a hysterectomy but I have fibroids. The doctor told me about another procedure but I asked him if the heavy bleeding would never come back and if it would stop the god awful cramps that hit me that I can barely walk. He said he couldn't guarantee that it wouldn't return, so I told him I wanted a hysterectomy. So it scheduled for July 1. I have one more time for my monthly friend and it is going to hit right on my vacation. I hope it doesn't ruin my vacation. But I am excited to be rid of all the monthly gushes of blood and the god awful cramps that I experience.

God luck with your hyst. and I feel you made the right decision.

The opposite happened to me. I had my surgery for heavy periods and on the ultrasound nothing showed up. I had what I assumed were normal cramps during my period and sometimes not at all. When he got inside he found and drained a small cyst on my ovary that neither of us knew was there.

I guess that would explain some of my cramping that happened some months and not others as we alternate sides we ovulate from. hmmm
