7 days out and much better

Yesterday was one week since my TAH and I was feeling much better. I could bend a little and was able to alternate stairs going up and down. I also walked to the end of the street and back (harder than I thought it would be). I was able to do some light housework, whcih was great because the husband and daughter just don't keep up with it. I haven't tried to drive yet. I might try tomorrow. I'm enjoying the time off to relax much more now that I can actually get around and do something.

Re: 7 days out and much better

You must be carefull not to do too much too soon. I am 3 weeks post-op and I have only driven once and that was yesterday for a very short distance. I know how hard it is to let others do the work for you and just to sit back and watch but I think you are pushing yourself a little too much. I have had to let the house go and believe me its hard because I`m a clean freek. I don`t want to sound like a nag but I would hate for something bad to happen to you. You may feel great on the outside but its the inside that has the healing to do. Please be carefull and I wish you best of luck in your recovery process!

Re: 7 days out and much better

Thanks for your concern. I will try to take it easy. I have my post op appt. on Wed. and don't plan to drive much until then. I have no intention of vacuuming or mowing the lawn (I'll leave that to the husband and daughter). I'm loving sitting in bed with my laptop every morning until 11:00 or so!

Re: 7 days out and much better

After my TAH I wasn't cleared to drive for 2 1/2 weeks. Make sure you check with your dr before driving. Keep up the walking, you'll find you can go a little farther each time. At the end of two weeks I could make it around the block. Please don't try to do too much while you're trying to heal on the inside.

Re: 7 days out and much better

That's good to know. I thought before I went in that I wasn't supposed to drive but when I left the hospital, the nurse told me I could drive after a couple of days. I sure haven't felt like I could yet. I think I'll let my husband drive me around this weekend and wait until I see my doctor next week. Thanks for the information. I think I'll get myself out of bed and go for a walk.
