OK-today's dumb question-Best phone card to take ?

Hi, have my own cell phone so don't buy phone cards. What's the best one to take to the castle? The hospital is 4.75 a day for the phone .
Starting to get a little nervous, I go in this Thursday, so pardon the sometimes dumb questions.

I think any one will work....as long as you're "awake" enough to dial all the numbers

I found that I got lots of teasing from my friends later because, while I was ok to dial numbers, some of my conversation was a little strange.

I took my cell phone that way I could call out and rec calls as I wanted...it also was my clock....i used it to see what time it was and even played the games that are loaded on it. I did have a phone in my room, some people called me on that. I vote to take your cell phone

I also plan to take my cell phone. All "important" numbers are stored there. Less for DH to keep track of and since I'm paying for it anyway.....

Just remember that most hospitals don't want you to use cell phones in the hospital since it can interfere with their equipment.

That's not a dumb question at all! I bought an AT& T card at Wal-Mart. They're not terribly expensive and you can add more minutes if you need to. The biggest problem with phone cards is how many numbers have to be dialed before dialing the actual phone number of the person you want to talk to! I know the first day I wasn't up to that much concentration.

Good luck with your upcoming surgery!

This is not a dumb question. Maybe you can check with your hospital to see if they allow cell phones where you will be. Mine did, because there were no heart monitors on the floor I was on. I didn't feel like calling anyone, but DH kept his cell phone on since it was allowed s

Just my but it is always best to check with your castle before you take or use your cell phone. Cat is correct in that many hospitals do not allow cell phones for the exact reason stated above.

Also if I might, there is no reason for anyone to get testy. Some of us have already gone through our procedures and stay around to help other LIW's. It our way of giving back what was given to us when we were in your shoes. So please try not to get snippy even if you don't happen to agree with what advise might be given.

I honestly hope that I did not appear "snippy" with my response. I really did not intend for it to be taken that way. I apologize if it was taken as a snippy comment. (just in case I was the one sounding snippy).....
