Anyone had Depo-Provera stop their bleed?

I have been having a period for five weeks. After two weeks, the doctor put me on the pill. It lessened the bleed but didn't stop it, and in fact what started to come out was pretty ugly (think plum jam). So I went back to the doctor and got a Depo-Provera shot. He said if it was going to work it would work in 48 hours. Well, it's been five days, and I'm still bleeding, only now it's brown and stringy. This is just SO lovely. Yuck.

I have an appointment with a laser specialist for a possible repeat ablation, that is on Thursday, but my NovaSure didn't work (20 months ago), so I'm not really willing to go through another ablation. I'm assuming he'll refer me to the surgeon for a hyster, and I can't wait for that to happen, at this point.

Has anyone ever had a Depo-Provera shot stop their bleeding? Is this just wishful thinking on my part?

Anyone had Depo-Provera stop their bleed?

I had also gotten the depo provera injection to stop my bleeding.

It worked for me within 2-3 days. It may take longer to get in your system..

I hope things will get better for you soon.

Anyone had Depo-Provera stop their bleed?

I was on Depo Provera from 2003 till two months ago, and it never stopped my bleeding, it made the bleeding managable, as in spotting to light bleeding but it never stopped it in all the years I was on it and i was getting it once a month which is more then is recomended .. my GYN was trying to stop me bleeding, but only thing that has dun that is the hyster, even the ablasion didn't stop it (just made it worse).

Anyone had Depo-Provera stop their bleed?

I had my first Depo shot May 1st. For the whole month of May I didn't bleed at all. June 3rd I started bleeding and haven't stopped. At first I thought, wow! This is great! Now, everyday I wonder when it will stop. I have simple hyperplasia.

Anyone had Depo-Provera stop their bleed?

Hi, I had Depo shots a few times and they never worked for me. My histroy was bleeding 25 or so days a month. Decided against ablation becuase of the failure rates. Had my TVH a week ago today. I don't regret it at all.

Anyone had Depo-Provera stop their bleed?

I was at wits end when I finally got my single Depo shot. I had already lost so much blood (bad fibroid, bad place, *lots* of bleeding), I had no iron left in my body, etc. My doc said that if Depo didn't get the bleeding to stop, the only guarantee after that was the hyster. The Depo did NOT make my bleeding stop. I think it caused it to lessen a little, but that was about it.

My partner recalls that I got very *****y on Depo. I think my doc described it as putting me into a form of menopause. So I got to see what my future holds for me I still have ovaries so I'm still making hormones.

Anyone had Depo-Provera stop their bleed?

I was taking depo shots for two years to stop bleeding. It was horrible for me because I spotted all of the time. I had to wear pads all of the time because I never knew when and how much the spotting would be. I also gained about 30 lbs very quickly. I also suffer from Migraines and depo made my headaches more frequent and worse. I know that everybody is different but I have several family members and friends who have tried depo as well and have not had good experiences. I wish you good luck.
