Re: has anyone lost weight after surgery?

tomorrow is 6 weeks post op, and I am 20 lbs lighter than at dx. I tried to take some off pre-op, but only managed about 5 lbs...so 15 lbs is post op. my appetite is down, and I make myself walk at least a mile every day. it doesn't sound like much, but it's more than I was doing. fear of painful bm is very motivating!

Re: has anyone lost weight after surgery?

I had LAVH on 9/21 and have lost 4 pounds in 3 weeks...but I also had my gallbladder removed at the same time. As I'm watching what I eat, and have little appetite...I imagine that I won't gain much weight back. Due to my gallbladder problems, I've lost a total of 25 pounds in the last three months...just feeling healthy will be great to me at last. Changing to a great diet and eating the right things will be a big step!

Re: has anyone lost weight after surgery?

I haven't gotten to the post-op stage yet , but I have been trying to lose weight and keep my A1c's (long term blood sugar measurements) in a good range. My A1c is good , and I have lost 2 clothing sizes , but gained weight !
Go figure !? Maybe after my BSO/TAH that weight will be gone. It is really great to hear of so many ladies who have lost weight. It is especially great to hear of so many ladies that are working towards a healthier lifestyle. I am really looking forward to being healthier.

Re: has anyone lost weight after surgery?

I gained about 12 pounds in hospital. I lost that that within a few days. I am down about 7 from my original weight. I hope this keeps up! My appetite is about the same as before. No Swelly Belly, here & there it seems bloated, but it did that before surgery too. I actually wore my jeans yesterday & they felt quite comfy. I am 10 days post LAVH

Re: has anyone lost weight after surgery?

although I only lost 5 pounds after the surgery, I recently had a bunch of my clothes altered because they are too big! Now that the big uterus and the swelly belly is gone, I look much thinner!
