hi just found this site- thanks,(question)

Hey sisters!

I didn't have internet access for a few days so it took me a while to get back.
So far I did hear back from the doctor, I'm scheduled for the tenth, which is just about a week away.
I really want to wait but I won't have any help if I wait longer. My daughter starts school the 18th.
Also I'm terribly worried about the pain mostly because I have a bad back and am on some pretty strong pain meds already.
I'm going to discuss that with the doctor Friday and see what he says. I would rather wait til a better time if I am told or even think I will be left in pain what so ever.

Has anyone else ever been on narcotics before their hysterectomy?

I have degenerative disk and joint disease.

Another thing that is just awful, I'm so worried about it I can't barely sleep. Its still a week away and I am like a zombie.I do usually get nervous about having any type of
procedure done but geez...
I hope that will get better after speaking with my doctor on Friday for the pre-op appointment.

I'm hoping he does another ultrasound just to sure it is where and as big as he was told by the hospital, which makes it so we're going thru my c-section scar. I'd much rather have it done with lazers vaginally

Time will tell I suppose.

Re: hi just found this site- thanks,(question)

Hi! I am having my surgery Friday morning(LAVH). I too take narcotics on a regular basis. I have fibromyalgia and spinal stenosis in my back. I was concerned about this also. Worried that because I take pain meds everyday I will not be able to control the pain of surgery. My doctor didn't seem to concerned when I mentioned it at my pre-op Monday. He said he would monitor my pain level extra close before he let me go home. I will let you know Saturday or Sunday how it worked for me. Good Luck and will be thinking about you!

Oh Thank You so much for your reply!
I have seriously been stressing over this. My pain doctor said he'd do whatever he could but the surgical doc was in charge, as long as both docs knows whats up, it will be allright. Also my knowing that I can only get pain meds from one or the other. Which is understandable.
As long as it under control while after having the surgery and going home he takes into consideration what I've already a tolerance to.
I'm praying it all works out well. My pain doctor was very supportive and said I could return there as soon as my gyno says OK. I was also worried about not being able to get my shots in my back, they help alot too with the pain. Maybe take a pillow if h will let me.

Re: hi just found this site- thanks,(question)

Hi! Just wanted to catch up with you since my surgery on Friday. Everything went well and I am managing the pain.I had Demerol in my IV right after surgery then switched to morphine. By mid afternoon I was taking 7.5 hydrocodone and 600 mg motrin. My prescription was written for 1-2 every 6 hours but honestly the first night and the next day(yesterday) I couldn't go six hours.I made it maybe 4 and 1/2. Today has been much better. I am also using a heating pad which is awesome! I do feel that having the tolerance to pain meds is why I couldn't go the whole 6 hrs but I really do feel okay. Be sure to not stay in the same position to long with your bad back and get up and walk as often as you can! I hope this helps. I will be thinking about you

Thanks,
It is very helpful hearing this from you.
I'm so nervous really.
Tomorrow is the day before my surgery.
I hope I am as well as you sound too.
Thanks for the tips on changing positions.

Also I was already thinking about the difference of demerol and morphine. I wonder if my doctor would be insulted if I just ask him to give me morphine and not demerol.
I remember when having my c-section the demerol did nothing for me really, maybe for ten minutes or so but thats it.

Hope you continue to feel allright.
