4 days post hysterectomy: Numbness & pain in right thigh

Had my hysterectomy on Thursday and Friday evening when I was home, my right thigh went numb. When I move my leg I get this sharp burning pain in my thigh. I've been walking some to see if that helps but nothing. Called my doc today and he said I need to come in...apparently this is not normal. :/ Anyone else experience this after having surgery with The DA Vinci Robot?

I had the DiVinci as well. While I was in the hospital I had numbness in my hands and arms. They said it was probably from the way I was laying during surgery and monitored it. Before I left the hospital it had gone away. Yours could be the same type of thing because we are put on some weird positions during surgery. But for that same reason it could be a DVT and will probably do an ultrasound on your leg to make sure.

Thank you for that info. They put these special socks on my on the lower half of my legs before surgery to prevent clots and didn't remove them till the morning I left the hospital. The nurse did mention an ultrasound when I called today.

Re: Numbness & pain in right thigh

I'm glad that you called your doctor and that you'll be seen. He'll probably check for blood clots. Hopefully the ultrasound will show the cause.

Please keep us posted in there

Went to see my doc and thankfully it's nothing serious. I have compressed nerves from the stirrups. Hopefully I should have feeling in my leg in a week.

Very happy to hear it's just from the surgery! It's a good idea to be seen about anything that doesn't seem right. Don't be afraid to call them if it happens later.
