surgical wash?/operating time

I am moving toward accepting TAV/SPO surgery for my recent diagnosis of complex hyperplasia with atypica. During a consultation for a second opinion with a gyn/onc, he advised that if he were doing the surgery he would do a "wash." Does anyone know what this involves, when it is necessary to do and if it affects the healing process? I, off course, also will ask the gyn, who will be backed by a gyn/onc in cased needed, whom I have chosen to do my surgery during our pre-op consultation.
Does anyone know the general operating time for an uncomplicated TAV/SPO. I ask because the two doctors have given me widely different margins. I know I am too detailed oriented but it makes me more at ease to know these things.

confused

I am kinda :confuse: on the TAV abbreviation...so I will give you a few "averages" for my hospital. Keep in mind that each surgeon is different as well as each patient!

Total Abdominal Hyst (uncomplicated) 1 1/2-2 hours TAH/BSO
Total Vaginal Hyst (uncompicated) 1-2 hours TVH/BSO
Laproscopic Assisted Vag Hyst 1 1/2-3 hours LAVH/BSO

As for the wash..if he is talking about him, he is meaning the surgical scrub prior to operating. If he is talking about you, it could mean the wash with antibacterial soap or the patient scrub at the hospital. I hope I have helped some.

surgical wash?/operating time

Hi there,

I had a TVH/BSO and bladder sling and my surgery time was 1 hour and 50 min., Dr. said the sling only takes about 10-15 min to do. As far as the wash issue I am sorry but I have never heard of it, can you elaborate?

Take care
Jodi

surgical wash elaborate

He seemed to be talking about "abdominal wash" not pre-scrub of surgeon or patient.
sorry, I meant to write TAH.

The surgeons use some type of (chemicals?) liquid to "wash" the abdominal area to check for abnormal cells. Somehow this solution allows them to see if you have more going on inside, then they can take appropriate measures to make it all better.
I had this done also.
Good Luck
