dVH/RALH 7 days post-op/bloated & no bm's :(

I've been reading/navigating all over this site for days/hours. So grateful for all the information!! Tomorrow will be 1 week post-op DaVinci surgery, removal of both ovaries,tubes,cervix and uterus. Gosh, it doesn't leave much else does it ladies?? All went pretty well with surgery. Operation at 8:00 am and sent home at 4:30 pm same day (only after waiting for 2 1/2 hours to URINATE which was never a problem for me before) Well anyway, I've been bloated and look 6 months pregnant, and haven't had a movement since my cleansing prior to surgery. For the last 4 days I've been using stool softners, laxative (all per docs. permission), lots water, oatmeal, stewed prunes, prune juice & ginger ale, walks, fruit and even went to the ice cream hoping that would help "move things along" since i'm lactose intolerant. Nothing has worked. I have an appt this Tues with my gyno/oncologist. Yes, I'm still taking my pain meds due to the discomfort and I understand from reading here that the meds can also contribute to this problem. Sisters, do you have any other suggestions for this gassy gal??? I look like a beach ball and my stretch marks from 3 births have stretched out to the max.... thank you and looking forward to your responses!

I'm 3 weeks post DaVinci...it was probably a good 10 days or longer post op that I had a BM. I was taking 2 antibiotics, however, so didn't have much of an appetite. I did ask my doc about it and he gave a pretty comical response...I had a lot of scar tissue/adhesions and endometriosis that had adhered all over, including the intestines. He said anytime the intestines are moved around, it causes them to dilate, and send a signal to the rest of the body that they are NOT working. Again, it took a bit longer than what I'd consider typical, but eventually those darn intestines started working! GOOD LUCK!

I'm in the same boat as you. I had abdominal on 26th. Had not had a BM since my bowel prep day before surgery. Had stool softners and gas x all week. Today at 6pm started with severe stomach cramps, vomiting, sweating, heart rate fast. Hubby had to hold me on the toilet I was so dizzy and faint. Managed to go and the act wasn't painful. Wish I could say I feel better now but I don't. Got the cramps again
I've not eaten much all week, can only keep down soup and jello. Going to phone my Gyni in the morning.

Oh my Sisters, it certainly sounds like I'm not all alone. Guess I will have to call my gyno/oncologist in the morning. I'll post his response when I get in touch with him. Good luck to us all!!

Well there is hope, its embarrassing and uncomfortable but after several days my dr. had my DH go pick up an enema. Best couple of dollars I could have spent. Took minutes, literally and sweet relief. My stool softeners thankfully took over from there.
