Re: Pain while urinating

The first thing I would think of is a Urinary Tract Infection. I would call the Doctor and tell him/her. It is especially common if you had a catheter. a

Re: Pain while urinating

Make sure that you do not have a UTI. You can adjust your diet to avoid acidic foods for a while and make sure you are drinking plenty of water. You didn't mention if the pain was new onset or since surgery. You can also have swelling. Feel better soon!

Re: Pain while urinating

I have been experiencing pain when urinating since surgery too. It doesn't feel like a UTI, and isn't accompanied by urgency or freuqency. I think it's probably related to the surgery. If you think about it, your bladder and uterus are next door neighbors, connected by connective tissue. When your uterus was removed, the doc had to cut that connective tissue, and I'm guessing that the irritation from that is causing some pain when the bladder muscles contract to allow you to urinate. Of course, you should probably call your doctor to rule out a UTI, and of course drink plenty of fluids, too. Good luck.

Re: Pain while urinating

I'm sorry you're experiencing this.

Have you found our <link> Post-Op Page yet? It's packed with information for your recovery, including several bladder articles.

As already mentioned, urinary tract infections are common following this surgery and so it's very important that you contact your doctor as soon as possible to rule this out.

Also, when you have a moment, it will help us greatly (when replying to any other concerns) if you could complete your Member Survey since this includes information such as why you had surgery, what type/which procedure and whether or not you kept your ovaries, etc. You can do that by clicking HERE.

Sending all good wishes as you continue to heal!
