Question.....Traveling by car - 3 weeks after

I have a question.....My MIL wants DH and I to travel down state with her this Saturday.....to her nephew's communion party...I think that is what she said it was.

It is abt 2 and a half hours away from us....by car, and I am wondering, is it too soon since the hysterectomy, which was, as of this week, start of three weeks to travel long distance?

Re: Question.....Traveling by car - 3 weeks after

Hmmm, tough question. I guess it all depends upon how you are feeling. Myself, I probably wouldn't know until I woke up that day. I have had such up and down days and not to steady one way or the other. My biggest problem right now is gas pain which hits me out of nowhere sometimes. If it wasn't for that I would probably be feeling braver for getting out. I think if you have been doing pretty good and you take your pain pills and anything else you might need while gone you should be ok. Be sure to take a pillow or 2 and rest on the trip there and back. And let them know ahead of time you might want to come home sooner than they want to because you're starting to feel tired (or achy or grouchy or whatever your excuse to leave...haha). But just think, if you really don't want to go you have a great excuse to stay home.

You'll make the right decision for you...good luck with it.

I would recommend just stopping every so often so you can get out and stretch your legs a little bit. Take some pillows and recline your seat back if you can.

I have a 6.5 hour flight ahead of me tomorrow. I bought the menstrual Thermacare heat wraps to see if that will help if I start feeling kinda yucky.

Re: Question.....Traveling by car - 3 weeks after

Like the others have said, it all depends on how you are feeling. When I was 4 weeks out I drove somewhere that took about 2.5 hours. I put a pillow between me and the seatbelt, stopped a couple of times and was fine. I was a little tired after the drive but other than that did okay.

I agree with the others - it really depends how you are feeling. It's not just the traveling - don't forget the party itself will be pretty tiring.
