Bleeding post-op

I am 9 days post-op. I had stopped bleeding about 3 days post-op. Last night when going to the bathroom, there was a little blood when I wiped. I did not want to freak out my husband so I did not tell him. There was more this morning. I am not feeling any strange pains at the the moment so I do not want to overreact. Has anyone completely stopped bleeding and then start again? Yesterday was a not so good day, so I know I did not push myself. I was having shooting pains off and on in the evening, down low, inside. I had a LAVH.

Re: Bleeding post-op

Yes, I had that. My spotting stopped on day 2 after the surgery (also LAVH) and then I started having spotting again after almost three weeks. I had a post-op visit scheduled for just a couple days after, so tried not to panic.

When I saw my doc, she said it was from stitches coming loose due to healing up and not to worry. She said if the bleeding was soaking a maxi pad in an hour then I should be concerned and call her and get to the ER.

Now that may or may not apply to your situation, I'm no doctor... if you are concerned, a quick call to your doc may be in order. I'm sure they get that question all the time and are really good at assessing over the phone whether it's serious or just a normal part of the healing process.

Take care!

Re: Bleeding post-op

Hi, if it was brite red or soaking a pad you need to call the doctor. A small amount of discharge can happen for weeks after the surgery. Do you feel sick? Have a fever? (check DC paper for number) Other complaints? if so give the doctor a call and have them instruct you.
If can just be all part of normal healing. One day feeling good and next feeling poorly.
