gross, sorry fecal incontinence

I just had surgery on the thirteenth of this month and have noticed that I have slight leakage of feces. I have had two soft bowel movements and bouts of diarrhea also. I had hysterectomy with anterior posterior repair bladder sling too. I can't believe this is happening, is this normal ? I am hoping that things are still getting settled. Thanks anyone who replies.

Re: gross, sorry fecal incontinence

Are you taking any medications/herbs that could cause this?

If not, please call your doctor.

Re: gross, sorry fecal incontinence

No, I was only taking ibuprofen. I have an appointment next Thursday, is that soon enough?

Re: gross, sorry fecal incontinence

I think this is something your doctor needs to know about asap.

Re: gross, sorry fecal incontinence

Are you taking a laxative? I took miralax after my hysterectomy and it worked so well that sometimes things slid out whether i made it to the toilet or not!

I agree you may want to give the doctor a call to let him/her know what's going on.

I hope you feel better soon.

(((Vallene))

I agree that a call to your doctor would be appropriate. It could be from stool softeners or if you are taking laxatives, I had similar issues post op but it's always best to check with your doctor with anything different.

Re: gross, sorry fecal incontinence

Thank you, it is worrying me because it happens when I am not defecating, just urinating.

Re: gross, sorry fecal incontinence

It has not happened for a couple of days, maybe it is something that can happen after surgery. Keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks everyone
