LSH -- what type of internal pains are normal

I'm so concerned! I've turned wrong a few times trying to get out of bed, and I think I might have stretched out while sleeping. At any rate, I've had very sharp internal pains at places other than the incisions.

I'm 6 days post-laparoscopic surgery. Does anyone have advice as to when to call a doctor and when to just take a pain pill and lay down?

Hi rmintexas

I'm sorry you're hurting like this. I think it's a good idea to try some comfort measures first, like resting and seeing if your pain medication will help. You could also be having gas pains. They're very common early on in recovery. I used GasX and found it helped. I also used a warm rice bag on my tummy where I would have pains and found some pretty good relief. You can also try a heating pad or ice if that feels better to you.

Have you been up and doing very much? Sometimes our bodies are just trying to tell us to slow down. With all that said, I want to encourage you to call your dr if this continues and you are unsure what the cause is and are having trouble getting it under control. Your dr is there to manage your recovery and it's never a bad idea to call if you have something happening that causes you to worry.

I hope you get to feeling better soon. Let us know how you do and what helps.
's, Rita
