Re: Incision care

I had a TAH and just had my uterus removed. It was the size of a 20 week pregnancy with a fibroid the size of a cantaloupe. My Dr. went through my c section scar which is about 5-6 inches long along the lower bikini line. My Dr. used dermabond with disolvable stitches. I had no staples and 10 days out my steristrips were removed. I am 3 weeks now and my incision looks better now than it did when I went in. He did an awesome job. Easy to care for, just let soapy water run on it in the shower and keep it dry. My Dr. even told me I could have massage. I had a massage yesterday right on the incision area it was a little sore during but not that bad as the incision is numb. But both massage therapist and dr. said the post op massage would be great for healing and break down the scar tissue. Hope this helps.

Re: Incision care

I had abdominal surgery. They used this glue - no stitches. I just had to work the glue off after a few days with vasaline. it took about a week before it was all gone. no big deal at all. then, I just made sure it kept dry.
I just had my 5 wk post-op today and the doc told me that there are staples under my skin that will desolve. i didn't even realize they were there. it's amazing the things they can do now.
speaking of amazing things...I was told in the hospital that they used a little of my own blood to create a healing agent they sprayed in me just before they closed. it's supossed to make for a faster healing time of the insicion. amazing stuff!
