Limited Testosterone Availability in UK

Hi, it has now been 4 years since I had a TAH & BSO (for Endo) and my libido has decreased to nothing - I am 31! I have been living in Canada for a couple of years and was suplementing my HRT (Estrogel) with Andriol (Testosterone tablets) and things were going really well, however on returning to live in the UK I discovered I couldn't get Andriol here and the only testosterone available to me is an implant which is put in my abdomen. Has anyone had this or heard of this and does it work / are there any side effects? I have a few weeks to decide whether to give it a try but am apprehensive as I know very little about it! I really want my sex drive back and feel too young to be celibate (my husband of 10 years agrees)! Please help!

I'm just coming up to my 1st anniversary and I have no libido either. I've been thinking of going back to my gp but keep putting it off as things are different here in the uk, we don't seem to get the same service of care as our sisters in the states.
having read your post I wasn't even aware that there is an implant available here for testosterone to help us out when we find ourselves lacking sex drive.
let us know what you decide to do, think I might make that appointment tomorrow and see what my gp has to say

Thanks for your response, I just wish I could get some further information about this implant as I don't want to start sprouting hair or gain a deeper voice once this implant is in place. My gynae consultant said that there were limited side effects but then again my other gynae (the one who performed my TAH & BSO) never even mentioned a lack of libido in the side effects of a hysterectomy! So I am really dubious about what to believe, hence I would like to hear from someone who has used this and had first hand experience! I will keep you posted! Helen

I had a testosterone implant about 3 months ago after trying the tablets to no joy. I have had no side effects apart from my skin was a little more oily but nothing major and have to shave my legs a little more often. It has really helped my labido and the hrt person I saw told me it had less recorded side effects than taking the tablets her words not mine though. I also had an increase in energy but it has rapidly dwindled just been for blood test to see if I need another implant. I was told initaly would last about 6 months but when I went last week they said 2-3 months is the normal. I am waiting for a letter to tell me if I need to go get another one.
The procedure is a small nick a thin tube is pushed under the skin and the pellet inserted. I had 3 butterfly plasters put on which I took off after 5 days. Occasionaly they have to use a stich but I did not need this. My tummy was a little sore for a couple of days but nothing awful.
