Re: Poll: If you take prescription HRT, what kind do you take?

I am on Vivelle Dot .1 and so far (6 weeks) no problems except for a headache the first couple of days I started it. I tried .05 and .075 and settled on .1 because of hotflashes on the lower doses.

Re: Poll: If you take prescription HRT, what kind do you take?

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones, since my patches cost me $10 a month, and will be $25 for the 90 day supply. My doctor although very informative otherwise, also never suggested I check into my coverage for HRT. I'm just glad we have our FSA acct to sort of even out the costs, as I have other health issues that last year cost over $6000 just for copays and meds. It amazes me when you look at what hospitals/drs charge compared to what the insurance covers. My surgery cost just over $45k, and that was just for the doc and OR, so far. I never thought this surgery would cost $60k when all is said and done. (I wondered at first if the $45k was a typo)? lol

Re: Poll: If you take prescription HRT, what kind do you take?

I have stopped the patches due to an allergic reaction to the adhesive, so now I just take the oral Estradiol .1

I'm in Vivelle Dot .1 and so far so good. Just a headache all of the first day. It is so convenient.

Re: Poll: If you take prescription HRT, what kind do you take?

I'm on Climara and it works pretty well for me....

It's not perfect, but I like them better then Estradiol tablets. I still get hot flashes here and there and night sweats, but usually it is almost time to change my patch.

Smile - Post-Op members only: If you take prescription HRT, what kind do you take? Re: Poll: If you take prescription HRT, what kind do you take?

If I don't take any HRT, it feels as if I am constantly in a stove, constantly having hot flashes. Also it helps sexually. I take it along with EFFEXOR pills. The both sort of take the edge off. Wish I wasn't on any HRT....

Re: Poll: If you take prescription HRT, what kind do you take?

I take 4 mg of Tri-Est compounded troche. It is about $50 per month. My insurance does NOT cover it. However it is worth every cent :-) I take a variety of vitamins & supplements regardless so I don't figure those in to the cost of my surgery. i am extremely happy with this type of HRT, after having tried many :-)
