I will be 7 weeks tomorrow and am doing better but still very sore. Does it bother anybody elses belly to sit upright. It really increases the soreness and definately increases the swelling.

Hurts to sit?

Yes it did me for a while, I couldn't sit at the computer because being upright in the chair bothered me and did cause some swelling and tenderness to my tummy. It does get better though so don't worry. I am now almost 11 weeks post op and for the past 3/4 weeks I have been able to sitcompletely upright for pretty lengthy periods and feel ok. Your body just isn't ready yet. Listen to those signs and take it easy. It is a long and very frustrating recovery unfortunately. Worth it in the end though. I hope you are feeling better soon love.

Hurts to sit?

Yes, it bothers me to sit upright too. It also depends on what I am sitting on. Went out to dinner the other night, had a padded booth bench, but still got sore with some swelling. I can sit upright much longer at home on our couch. Bar stools and the like....forget it!!!

Hurts to sit?

eclark...we had our surgery on the same day and I am having a problem with sitting also. I went back to work last Thursday but had to leave after 5 hours of sitting at a desk. I kept getting up and walking but I still ended back at the desk and finally had to call it a day. I had my post-op doctor visit Monday and she said to only work half days for the next two weeks. Even the half days are hard and I'm pushing myself. Seems I've had a hard time sitting all along...it was quite a while after surgery before I could sit at the computer. Hopefully this will get better for us!!!

Hurts to sit?

I will also be 7 weeks tomorrow. I still get very sore and swollen when I sit for long periods. I'm still taking ibuprofen (prescription strength) at night. Hopefully we'll all get through this soon.

Hurts to sit?

Yes, I had problems sitting straight also. Had to sit leaned back in a chair at the computer. What bothered me was the swelling and the ache that would result from it after I sat for awhile. One day it was just gone. I was told that my body had to absorb the liquid build up and when that happened then the swelling would be gone. It may have taken a couple of months.

Hurts to sit?

I hadn't thought it bothered me much, but I do get sore if I sit at the computer for too long. It certainly feels better when I go get in the recliner or lie down.

Hurts to sit?

Hey right there with all of you on the sitting up issue! I also had incision burn on my right if I was on my feet for just 10 minutes. That has subsided some. I find that Motrin 800's are very helpful to reduce that inflamation. I am also taking vitamin C' 1500mg per day. Very surprised how long the recovery is. But at 2 weeks out, I do feel that I am turning the corner. I know that it will take the full 6 weeks to be <back>. Best wishes to all !

Hurts to sit?

Anyone know WHY this is?

I have a desk job from a home office. I thought with no commute and no need for work clothes I'd be back at the computer soon...

OUCH.

I worked from bed (literally) with a laptop over-the-bed cart and my telephones since 3 1/2 weeks - trying to keep it to part time. But then my back/neck muscles hurt because it's just UNnatural to use a computer from bed!

Yesterday I tried sitting in desk chair (slightly padded office chair raised higher than usual with footrest) all day, and OUCH OUCH OUCH. By end of day when I was up and moving around I was having very painful twinges inside... enough to make me say OWWWWW!

I was glad to hear someone post that one day they were fine again... Hoping that comes soon!

-k.
