Surgical Reports
Did anyone get a copy of their surgical report? I got my hospital bill today, so I figure everything is now properly recorded, filed etc, and I am thinking about getting a copy. I do have a medical dictionary if I need it!! lol

Re: Surgical Reports
I requested and received a copy about three weeks post-op; always a good idea. Some hospitals charge a fee if you need more than a few pages.

Re: Surgical Reports
I received a copy of mine from my doctor at my 2-week follow-up appointment, and the doctor walked me through it to make sure I understood everything it said.

Re: Surgical Reports
I got mine at my two week checkup and doctor went through everything with me. Make sure you ask when you go for your checkup.

Re: Surgical Reports
I requested mine at about 3 weeks from the hospital. They gave me a copy of everything from nurses notes, surgical report, path report. I was able to understand the surgical report but the path report is way out of my legue!

Re: Surgical Reports
I went for my post op check up six weeks after surgery. My Doctor did not have the surgical reports, nor pathology reports. I was told that if there were any problems, I would have been told about them via my gynecologist. LASH, still have the ovaries and cervix.
I am able to finally sleep at night, even without those reports.

Re: Surgical Reports
I also got my surgical report and pathology reports when I went for my post op appointment. They were happy to provide them to me. Hope you are healing well!

Re: Surgical Reports-feeling well
I have had more and better sleep in the past five months after my LSH, than I had in 3 years prior. Good and restful sleep!
I am doing so well that my DH says he has a new wife now, a new and improved version(giggles). I feel that way too.
I believe that if there were anything wrong in my reports, I would have been told by now. Some people, medical people, and hospitals, are clearly less efficient than others. Some are more proactive with regards to their patients.
All in all, there is so much in life to look forward to!

Re: Surgical Reports
I got copies of both my preliminary pathology reports (organs and cytology) and then the final one written by the department head, but I never asked for the surgery report. What new and exciting things would I find in the surgery report? Now I'm curious.

Re: Surgical Reports
I took the tip from this site and asked for both reports at my 6 week checkup. The doctor had the staff make copes right then, and I read them at home. The surgery report is the transcript of everything done during the surgery. Fascinating (to me at least)! Seriously, reading that report and translating it in my brain to layman's terms really made me step back and say, "No wonder we are all swollen up and in pain!!" It says everything the moved around, clamped, cut, etc.
